What time does school start?

School starts at 8:00 a.m. for everyone, except Late Start Kindergarten which starts at 10:05 a.m.
Supervision begins at 7:30 a.m. when students are allowed to enter the school and go to the playground (Early Start Kinders enter at 7:45). Students should not arrive at school prior to 7:30 a.m. because there is not any supervision in the front of the school.

What should you do when your child is sick?

Please call the school's attendance line 24 hours a day, (909) 920-3101 as early as possible when your child is going to be absent. You should report your child's name, teacher's name, the reason for the absence, and who is reporting the absence (i.e. mom, dad, grandma, baby-sitter, etc.) Only an adult can clear absences. If you are unable to call the school, please send a note explaining the absence the first day your child returns to school. All absences need to be verified. Any unverified absences become truant. Every Day Counts!

What if your child is tardy?

Students are considered tardy at 8:00 a.m. when the last bell rings. In order for students to be considered on time, they must be ready to walk into the classroom with their teacher when the 8:00 a.m. bell rings. After 8:00 a.m., students need to stop in the office to pick up a tardy slip so they won't be marked absent. Remember, Every Minute Counts!

Why does the office ask for identification when picking my child up during school hours?

Identification is required for the safety of your child. Even though we might know you by face and name, sometimes there are people who work in the office that are not regulars. They don't know you and we would hate for your child to be dismissed to the wrong person. Also, please don't send someone that is not on the emergency card to pick up your child....we can't release them. Remember, we are concerned about the safety of your child. So always, bring your identification.

When is dismissal time?

Dismissal is 2:30 for grades 1 - 6. Kindergarten dismissal is 11:25 for Early Start and 1:30 for Late Start.

What are minimum day hours?

Each Wednesday is a minimum day for our students.
All Kinders- 8:00 a.m. to 11:25 a.m.
Grades 1 - 6 - 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

What time should your child come for breakfast?

Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 7:50 a.m. Make sure your child arrives to school for breakfast no later than 7:50 a.m. to ensure they will have time to eat and be in their classrooms on time. The cost for a carton of milk is 35¢.

How much does lunch cost?

Hot lunch may be purchased for $2.75 or 40¢ for reduced. Students may bring their lunch and buy milk for 35¢. Our cafeteria manager will be in the cafeteria each morning at 7:30 a.m. Students who will pay for their lunch on a daily basis will do so during recess. Lunches may be paid in advance, by the week, month, quarterly or yearly, by check. As a courtesy, if your child does not have lunch money. we will loan them the money from our Lunch Money Fund. We ask that you repay us the next day so that we always have funds for other students.

What should you do in order to request homework?

Call the office (985-2619), give them the name of your child and his/her teacher. If possible, let us know how many days your child will be absent. Requests for homework should be made in the morning to give the teacher time to collect the work for the day. All homework is available after 3:00 p.m.

What if you are going out of town?

If your child will be missing five or more days of school, please go to the office and sign an Independent Study Contract. You will need to meet with your child's teacher who will write up a study plan to be completed during your child's absence. The completed contract must be turned in upon the return of your child to the regular classroom. Unfortunately, the school cannot issue an Independent Study Contract for less than five days.

Where can I park to pick up my child at dismissal time?

The Cabrillo driveway is closed for picking up students at dismissal time. Parents can park in the west parking lot, if spaces are available, on the street, or at Cabrillo Park and walk down to the school to pick up your child in the front of the school. No students will be allowed to walk to the west parking lot for pickup.

For more information, please pick up a student-parent handbook from the school office or contact us.
